Welcome to the 2009 Inter-Yacht Club Challenge, the Bay’s only Match Racing program. This year the action on and off the water promises to be exciting. Hosted by the Golden Gate Yacht Club, the best sailors in the Bay Area will compete over three days for the Golden Gate Cup, presented by SLAM.
Last year it was a test of will and strength as six Bay Area clubs fought for the right to take the Cup to their home Club. This year, the San Francisco Yacht Club is defending champion, but the other clubs are in the hunt to take the Cup away.
The event will take place over three days, July 24, 25 and 26, with two full Round Robins and one Final to be held on July 26. By day 2, all teams will have raced a total of 10 races each, an exhausting schedule that will test the strength and determination of the teams.
Conditions are expected to be windy. Races are expected to be close.
